So we were planning a different blog for this month and tell you just how wonderful it was to have General Boykin visit us again last month. AND IT WAS A BLESSING TO HAVE HIM HERE. Looking forward to the next visit from our dear friend General Boykin.
And along comes Hurricane Irma and disrupted everyone’s life in Florida, one way or another.
We had a full house at Capernaum Lakeside Lodge before, during, and after the storm up until Wednesday. BUT THERE WAS NO POWER. We had plenty of food and water (and lots of coffee) to serve so no one went hungry or thirsty. There was great fellowship among strangers as there usually is in times like these. Thank God for generators that keep food frozen and refrigerated.
Capernaum Inn never lost power. So our cabins have been made available to folks who are still waiting to get back in their homes (and allowing pets – with certain restrictions). Normally the cabins are not open for the non-human guests as we are very careful to consider those with allergies, etc. But in times of crisis we look at ways to bless those who must leave their homes for any reason. Needless to say, we have been full despite the mess on the ground. Lots of trees down, branches and debris from the wind every where but AC and a hot shower supersedes jogging around the sticks and branches.
Our telephone lines and internet are down, and WiFi is very spotty.
We are praying for the power to be restored at Capernaum Lakeside Lodge soon – as we can see lights and power returning in the nearby neighborhood around us.
We are still praying for our friends and neighbors where there is no power, damages to their homes, etc. And let us not forget the rest of the state of Florida where there was major devastation, flooding, and homes lost – from the Keys all the way up through Jacksonville. Also, let us not forget to pray for those in Texas as well. It will take them a long time to recuperate from Hurricane Harvey.
Thank you Jesus for the many blessings you have poured over us during these tough times. May we always be mindful to give You all of the praise and glory.
